Skype for Android 2.1 Is Out
This is one is truly long overdue, but Skype has finally released its Skype for Android app. The Android version of the popular VoIP software can now be downloaded for free and it will work only for Android 2.1 and above — so tough luck Dell Aero owners.

Skype for Android app is free to download.
Using Skype for Android, users can make free calls to other Skype users all over the world. However, for those in the US of A, calls can only be made using a Wi-Fi connection. Meanwhile, lucky people who reside elsewhere will be able to make Skype calls using their phone’s cellular network, which include GPRS, EDGE or 3G.
Apart from offering users the chance to make free Skype calls, the app also enable users to make phone calls to landlines and mobile phones — for cheap, of course. Skype for Android also supports instant messaging feature and synchronization between your phone’s address book and Skype contacts.
The app will also allow users to receive calls on the handset made to their Skype account; though obviously, you have to be connected to Wi-Fi. A little bit impractical, but unless you want to move to Europe, it’s something that you have to deal with for the time being.
Skype away then Android users.
