Nokia Taunts Apple and Friends
Quick, what to do when your company is losing some of its key people and you want to shift the bad press away? Why you throw some cold hard statistic to the face of the critics, that’s what.

Yep, you read the screen right. (credit: Engadget)
During the Nokia World event today, Nokia executive VP Niklas Savander didn’t hold back criticizing Apple and Google and boasting its sales figures, such as selling 260,000 number of phones every day in Summer. Apparently, the number’s bigger than the Android and Apple duo. But of course, he didn’t mention which model sold how much. It could be those sub $30 phones for all we know.
But were his claims accurate? After all, Google recently stated that about 200,000 new Android phones are being activated daily. As for Apple, the number stands at about 230,000. Hmm, you do the math.
Among the things he could’ve talked about, he chose to mercilessly attack slogans used by Apple and bragged about Nokia’s own Ovi Maps – comparing it to Google Maps.
We give the guy props for the fighting spirit, but maybe it’d be much better to channel the energy elsewhere, such as trying to keep the company’s ship from drowning even more in the sea of Android, iOS and Blackberry phones.
