Intel: Speeds up the Sandy Bridge Launch Due to Demands

Paul Otellini, Intel Chief, has revealed during the company’s fiscal results call that the new Sandy Bridge architecture would arrive earlier than expected—and as revealed yesterday; given that the 32 nanometer processor design spells a “very strong reception”, Intel has vowed to speed up the production of the said processor to meet the demands of the customers.

The CEO expects the chips to arrive later this year; full details about the Sandy Bridge are not yet properly and officially disclose, though Intel has already said the first redesign since 2008’s Nehalem will have some optimizations and that it is said to tag along an Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX), a new set of codes to speed up tasks like video encoding, as well as certain general math to mention some.

Furthermore, recent rumors also point out to have alluded to low-power desktop chips are possible as well as moving the graphics on the chip die itself and not just the package as on the existing processors. The first processors that are based on the Sandy Bridge will all be of the desktop processor type and that it would start clocking at 3.1 Ghz and above; notebook equivalents on the other hand wont show up until the Huron River Platform will ship sometime by early next year.
