Under the wireless movement that aims to make every device completely independent of wires comes yet another wireless charging solution from Case-Mate that targets iPhone users who wants to give their phones a Hug case that allows the device to charge wirelessly through a Hug pad.

The Case-Mate Hug case for the iPhone may not feature new technology but it is still quite a convenient use of existing technology that we have already seen on the power mats that wirelessly charge devices through contact as they incorporate the technology onto a durable iPhone case that charges an external battery when placed on a power mat-like surface called a Hug Pad. The two devices then work together to charge the iPhone without having to connect it to a charger or placing it on a dock.

The negative aspect of the deal is that the case is quite bulky, probably because they wanted it to be durable as well as functional and the price for the wireless convenience is kind of high as the case and pad is just a cent short of a hundred bucks. It is compatible with other power mat surfaces though so that’s a plus.
