IBM Power 7 Server Processor
IBM is gearing up to launch Power 7 their own processor that will compete with the Intel Core chips and will be a successor to the amazing Power 6 and would be packing enough power to make you think twice before going Intel all the way for your processing.
The IBM Power 7 will be featuring no less than eight physical cores the likes of which will blow the silicon off the board and is twice the capacity of the Itanium 9300 from Intel which has been cornering the market. Well IBM is not sitting around and letting that happen by chasing after the hardcore multi threading segment which Intel has been using and would set the IBM server processor up among the ranks of the industry leaders.
IBM has been known for their computers and with the Power 7 their computers can now handle 32 virtual threads because of the multi threading performance which is far better than anything that’s being offered. The advanced design of the processor will pack 1.2 billion transistors through the 45nm technology and with the 32MB L3 cache that’s running on the dual-channel DDR3 memory controller, the Power7 is surely one to look out for.
