Deanmark’s futuristic AirMouse straps on hand and works on air
Probably most of us come across certain products or technologies that are simply too good to be true that they appear to be only possible in Sci-Fi movies. However, there is a product that can be easily placed in that category, the AirMouse. The device is developed by the Canada-based company Deanmark, and it should or might usher in a whole new era of computer controllers and accessories, one that actually doesn’t require a solid mousing surface.
The AirMouse is worn just like an accessory strapped over one’s hand, with the sensors controlling the mouse clicks being placed on the tip of the user’s finger and the laser tracking sensor on the palm. Yup, the device works right in the air and connects to a computer via a wireless RF or Bluetooth connection. It is powered by a rechargeable battery that, which should last a whole week without the need for a recharge.
The company behind the AirMouse also claims that the device will prove to be an excellent solution for fighting repetitive strain injury or RSI, which is an affliction that will surely bother ever more people in the future since computer usage becomes more and more widespread. Hence, due to the fact that the AirMouse is perfectly shaped after the human hand, no unnecessary and/or artificial moves will be involved.
Unfortunately, the AirMouse remains just a rendering for the meantime, along with some pieces of not-very-technical information, but we can expect that there’s a lot more to this thing than vaporware, because it will surely enable one special mousing experience.
