Canon unveils new Powershot A3100 IS, A3000 IS, A495 and A490 digital cameras
Canon introduced 4 new models included on its Powershot a-Series of digital cameras. The new PowerShot A3100 IS, A3000 IS, A495 and A490 units all offers a dedicated low light shooting mode and two new creative shooting modes.
Leading the way is the PowerShot A3100 IS offering 12 megapixels resolution with 4x optical zoom and optical image stabilization function. It also has a 2.7 inch LCD display for previewing those captured moments.
Next is the PowerShot A3000 IS which shares the same features as with the AS3100 IS but has a smaller 10 megapixels resolution.
The other two models, the PowerShot A495 and A490 also has 10 megapixel resolution but with a smaller LCD screen displays. The optical zoom range is also smaller for these models and has no image stabilization.
The more disappointing part aside from the A-Series’ loss of manual controls is the lack of an optical viewfinder and the move away from the AA battery standard along with the likely trade-offs like the slower shooting speed and increased noise.
