Nokia teams up with AT&T to produce Symbian handset

Another integration is being planned between Nokia and AT&T to solve the trouble of Nokia getting into the US market. And I think this would bring more opportunity for both companies, just like what is happening with all other teaming-up companies. And the initial product of the integration is a Symbian handset.nokia-att-logo

According to a VentureBeat report, the company Nokia and AT&T are working side by side to produce a Symbian handset based on a Qualcomm chipset. At present, there still are no definite specifications or release date. The specific Qualcomm processor Nokia will use for the basis of AT&T device is yet to be announced, but we presume that it will be more likely to be the 1GHz Snapdragon chipset which was often used on latest devices.

It could also be probable that the device is a mid-tier handset, considering it’s proposed to be a Symbian handset which is assumed to be low at cost and a power saver that would suit as a good deal for the US.

Aside from the new team up, Nokia is also opening its doors to release the US version of N900, the Maemo 5 smartphone which was disclosed last September at the Nokia World.

With these strategies, Nokia is hopeful to double its US market share within the next twelve months.
